I had a dream about dolphins that night. I feel that my experiences in Volcanoes Park were preparation for this ethereal encounter. I saw a little girl who seemed to be surrounded by darkness, and she safely put her finger into a dolphin’s mouth. She was absolutely trusting. Then a dolphin sat on the little girl’s lap. I knew that this child represented my inner child, and she was ready to connect to the dolphins in trust, to unite with their Spirits. She was fully open to receive a healing from the dolphins, and to share her energy with them.

We awoke early and were feeling such excitement about having a full morning on a private charter that we arranged through Jack’s Diving Locker. Our intention was to swim with our dolphin family for the first time; to call them to us in open waters. Our hearts felt ready. Our anticipation was intense. After leaving from a dock near the Kona airport, we were soon gifted with a whale sighting from our boat, the sleek and fast Blue Dolphin. It seemed quite fortuitous, and we thanked the whale from our hearts. We felt her receive our love. Then the call went out, the dolphins were among us!

We entered the water as quickly as possible in a flurry of excitement, and had a brief first encounter with them. Just seeing them swim by quickly was amazing. The dolphin’s movements as a pod mesmerized me, and my first fleeting thoughts were that they are totally conscious beings, totally suited to their watery world. Their sleekness and beauty when viewed up close from under the water is astounding. Their happiness and joy radiates all around them, as does their closeness and connection to each other. Their songs of ecstatic chirps and squeaks became music to our ears, and a healing to our souls. A dream of mine that had been present since my early childhood days as an avid Flipper fan had finally come true. It was just the prelude to even closer and more intimate contact.

We swam away from our boat and the pod circled back around to us! Seeing their glistening shapes swimming back toward me at great speed through the crystalline ocean brought tears to my eyes, which I fought to hold back in an effort to keep my mask from fogging. The most amazing thing was recognizing that they were actively choosing to be with us, in response to our energetic request to them to join us within their own watery world. They felt us open our hearts in joy and gratitude, and responded to us just as openly.

HAWAII: DOLPHINS INVITE US INTO THE POD

My thankfulness was an all encompassing feeling; in those moments as the pod approached me it was as if I was reviewing my whole life, and assessing each event and connection as a great gift that had assisted my healing. The dolphins have the ability to open me fully to all of the beauty and love that is my life, and to see the bigger picture of there being no accidents or victims, only opportunities for growth as Spirit presents them. Saying “thank you” to the dolphins almost doesn’t seem enough, though I know my gratitude is received fully, and appreciated on all levels.

It was early enough in the morning that many of the spinners were still quite active. I was in a state between bliss and serious excitement, when a dolphin swam by suddenly so close to my left side that he nearly touched me. Then he swam directly in front of me, and his tail was just an inch or two from my swim mask. It was such a strong initiation experience for me that my eyes again were flooded with tears. He even chose not to poop when he got directly in front of me, which is an action that frequently happens in the open waters with the pods. I am so happy with all my encounter experiences with these magnificent creatures that I even feel blessed to be pooped upon.

I was so deeply thrilled and maybe even a bit nervous about my first extremely close dolphin experiences that I forgot how to breathe through my snorkel for a few moments. I ended up sucking in a mouthful of salt water on at least two occasions when a dolphin was heading straight for me. Each time I got myself back together after a cough or two, telling myself to relax with my new underwater family. Dan was right at home instantly, and his energy as it connected to the pod attracted amazing underwater orbs that the pod seemed to notice and interact with. We had an orb show up with the dolphins in two different photos, stunning examples of these consciousness forms that are rarely seen underwater. They were great gifts to us. next page >>
