Until we ride again

Run in peace my Spirit, play in peace, grow in peace, fly free in peace
Prance and gallop and go home in peace
Remember us and visit us and guide us
The pain of losing you is sharp and fresh right now
I feel and remember
Your soft fuzzy nose I loved to kiss
Your powerful and graceful body that seemed to grow day by day
Your silky red fur I loved to bury my face in
Your gorgeous tail that grew to the ground
Often carried straight up in exuberance
Your sturdy hooves that danced on the earth
With joyous excitement and complete abandon
The Spirit that held space for the world
And warmed my heart every day for three years
My Dear Spirit who so suddenly left his body just a week ago
Who once drank from a bottle held in my hands
Who is teaching me so much about life and love and letting go
I saw us growing old together, riding off in the sunset
Thank you for letting me know that you showed me that
Because we had done it so many times before.
But no, not in this lifetime, my dearest boy
I miss you, I love you, I honor you, I thank you
I release you to fly free from your earthly bounds
Circle the globe and continue to teach us
Assist me with this pain that burdens my heart
Share with us your balance of power and gentleness
Your playfulness and glee and embodied freedom
Your honor and integrity and truth of Spirit
You always stood true in Who You Were
Authentic and mischievous so embodied and alive
When you were young and had regained your health
After losing your mom at birth
You told me you may only stay on earth a year
I said that was alright if it had to be
This memory left me when you turned two
It seemed you had decided to stay
It has come back to remind me and ease my pain
As your time on Earth had the potential to be brief
Thank you for loving your life so much and staying so long in your body
Thank you for telling me you stayed
because I loved you so much
I will always love you that much
You stayed to experience nanny Sedona and your loving herd
To be mothered and cared for when you needed nurturance
To bond with your brother who shared your life
Two Scorpio boys full of verve and sass
You played our games and brought us laughter
You expanded your energy and helped many heal
You shared an open and trusting heart
You will always be my precious red baby
Grown big and tall and strong and true
Always a part of me, as I feel you still
