~ ABYDOS AND DENDERA~

After thanking our guide with a bit of cash, we wandered outside the temple complex and I was instantly drawn toward the site of the sacred lake of Dendera.  Encased by stone walls, it no longer contains water.   It had eroded sets of stairs leading down to a square patch of soil where healthy palm trees now grow.  I was magnetically drawn to the site, and glanced around to be sure that there was no restriction upon climbing down the crumbling stairs to the earth below.

No one was around at all, and no signs prohibited us entering the space of the sacred lake.  Upon reaching the ground, I was immediately drawn to peer under a stairwell.  In the shadows of the dark and ancient stone stairwell, amidst some modern trash, there appeared to be water.  Illuminated by flashlight, we could see the remains of the ancient spring that had once supplied the lake!  It was a stunning and magical find, and we meditated by the palm trees after performing a Water Healing Ritual under the steps.  After the difficulties of the day, we left the site feeling relieved and renewed.

Our taxi driver returned to the convoy with a new windshield.  I closed my eyes and attempted to remain peaceful while he drove, transmuting the memory and energy of the shattered windshield in the process.  After the drive back to our hotel in Luxor, he extorted Dan for more money than the huge tip that he had already received from us.  He kept repeating the cost of the windshield as if it was our responsibility to pay for it, and also stated that he had been given a big fine by the police because the new window did not have the current stickers on it.

I was a bit perturbed by his aggression over the money, which totally aligned with the energy of his driving.  Dan felt uncomfortable in the situation, and hastily decided to give him even more money to help with the repairs and ticket.  We escaped from the taxi and limped back to our room after this tiring end to an exhausting and rather ruthless day.  We slept well, and made our way back to Cairo the next morning.  Our next leg of the Egyptian journey was the Sinai Peninsula.  I was thrilled that we were able to arrange a brief excursion to it.  The land there, steeped in the history of religion, tradition, and lore, welcomed and called me.
