It was rather shocking to be out in the great city crowds of I found myself observing the essence of who I was in the world; asking where my place was within it. I also observed the mindlessness of the masses around me, knowing I too had often hurried along carrying my bags of this and that sometimes even forgetting what I had purchased by the time I got home. I felt the bitterness of unconsciousness; more biting it was than the icy wind battering against the windows of the mall. In the midst of my feelings of uncertainty and isolation, I was pleased to find a great winter coat for a great price, and it served me well throughout the remainder of journey. I also purchased two pairs of pants that were a bit thicker than the tropical weight fabrics I had recently needed. All of the clothing soon assisted me in the dampness of the British winter, as well as a few weeks later in the freezing night air of several Egyptian deserts.
