STONEHENGE AND RAVEN

We left Avebury for the 20 mile drive to Stonehenge, happy to be in a car with a good heater. Dan drove the narrow, rural roads carefully, and many cars hurriedly passed us.  An accident diverted us from the normal route to Stonehenge. I considered that it probably resulted from another tourist adjusting to traffic lanes on the opposite side of the road. When we did arrive we were disappointed to see how this site has become such a major tourist attraction.

We were led to the stone henge through a tunnel under the road, along with all the others who had made the trek to the ancient circle that day.  Because the ground was soggy, orange tape kept us from closely approaching the weathered monoliths.  A raven circled the stones and invited us to feel their energy.  As the grayness of the stones blended into the gray background of the sky, I felt the stones tell me of their purpose; that they are standing as a bridge between heaven and earth.

With all the others who braved the cold that day, we were ushered out of the site through the gift shop of Stonehenge. I felt mixed emotions regarding how great sacred sites such as Stonehenge have been denigrated by their tourist appeal and the industry that caters to it.  It would be wonderful to enter the Circle for sacred ceremony.  Another time, perhaps.

We made our way with more than a little difficulty to a train station outside of London, and returned our rental car.  We noticed in the small station that there were no trash cans, and one of the locals informed us that this was because of the potential for bombs to be placed within them.  An ingenious invention to avoid bathroom trash delighted me.  When washing my hands in the water closet, I only had to place them within a cavity cut into the wall where soap, water, and a dryer took care of the whole process in one easy step.  It was brilliant, an invention that made the most of a very difficult situation.

We traveled up to London and were shocked by the size of the train station there.  We didn't have to navigate it alone, thankfully.  We met up with a British friend of mine who had graciously invited us to spend the evening at her home.  She led us out of the maze of tunnels expertly.

It was a wonderful reunion with Elsa, and I am still amazed at her hospitality. I met her when she had come to Sedona alone on a personal journey, and I co-facilitated a healing session for her.  We stayed in touch thanks to the Internet, and it was lovely to be in her home, and in her company.  She met Daniel for the first time, and I met her fiancé as we caught up on our lives and strengthened our friendship.  We share many of the same knowings and I will always see her as a kindred spirit.

We performed a Water Ritual the next morning at the Thames River, and we also gifted the river with one of seven quartz crystals that we brought with us on our journey.  The day was again a typical winter day in Britain; damp, bone chilling, and overcast.  The river felt a bit lifeless, except for a few ducks waddling at the water’s edge.  The water seemed to welcome our prayers, and we could feel in our hearts the river's appreciation of the water blessing and the crystal.

DAN AND ELSA, WATER RITUAL, THAMES RIVER

We were soon off to the airport for another long flight, finally to Egypt! I enjoyed my own private movie screen on the back of the seat in front of me, as well as a wonderful dinner on the plane. I was so excited that I didn't sleep much.

My dreams the night before in London had been unusual.  They seemed to be showing me past lives, as well as past lives of others who are close to me.  Egypt was already opening me, though I found myself approaching the ancient energies cautiously. I had always been drawn to the pyramids, though I actually felt fear at the thought of soon entering them. I could sense deep, and somewhat dark energies that I would be asked to confront, and transform.
