EGYPT, PYRAMIDS AT NIGHT

The remains of a mortuary temple are found on the pyramid’s east side, and included in the ruins is a courtyard area still partially surrounded by ancient limestone walls.  We were left alone in the silence of the night to meditate here in the shadows of the pyramids.  I remember feeling a bit insecure as we had been told to stay quiet, indicating that if the guards found us it could be a problem.  I was still able to go to a very deep place for a few moments, and connect to the energy around me. I saw and felt the sun come to me, and welcomed the energy as it entered me through my throat. I heard it represented the "door to heaven". We left the plateau in silence after the profound meditation.  The silhouette of the pyramids and sphinx at night, backlit by stars in the quiet desert darkness, was a beautiful sight.

A few evenings later we had the second opportunity to visit the plateau at night.  My stomach was extremely upset and I felt far too weak to do anything but rest in bed.  Daniel and our guide searched in vain for horses or camels to carry them to the third pyramid that night, as animals were being confiscated and not returned to their owners if they were found on the plateau after hours.  Entry points to the plateau from its surrounding streets were still well known to our guide, who was a local, so he and Daniel made the trek on foot.

The entire Giza plateau, including some of its surrounding areas, was in fact at that time being encased within massive concrete walls that when completed would surely preclude any after hours visit to the plateau.  This is being done to supposedly thwart any terrorist efforts at destroying the monuments of Giza.  The current government of Egypt has begun to severely restrict access to both explorers and spiritual groups that in the past have had a much freer access within the country.

Daniel and our friend climbed to the top of the third pyramid with no mishaps.  As we had arranged, they called me on a cell phone when they reached the top. We remembered to thank the connections that are possible through the technology of our times.  It was in the wee hours of the morning and although I was groggy I will never forget how I felt during that call.  We joined one another in prayer and focused our energy upon peace, and in that moment my hands felt utterly electrified.  Sparks literally seemed to be flying off of them.  Daniel felt the buzz too, and we acknowledged and thanked Egypt for yet another great and mysterious initiation.
